Deputy Managing Director
Alexander Slater is Deputy Managing Director for India at the U.S.-India Business Council, where he brings professional skills and experience in the fields of law, finance, global development, international affairs, strategy and communications.
Slater previously served as an advisor and speechwriter to the President of the World Bank; worked as a Senior Financial Officer in the World Bank Treasury; practiced law at O’Melveny and Myers, where he advised CEOs and senior executives in matters of white collar defense, corporate and Congressional investigations and regulatory review of foreign investment in the United States; and served as a foreign policy advisor and speechwriter to U.S. Senator Charles Schumer. Slater also clerked for Judge Barrington Parker on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and worked in the City Government of New York, where he was an Urban Fellow.
Slater was born in New York City and grew up in Toronto, and has visited India numerous time over the past 20 years. He holds a BA in history from Yale University, a JD from Harvard Law School and a masters in international relations and law from Oxford, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar.
