USIBC Newsletter (March 27, 2020)
The past two weeks have brought unprecedented changes for our companies, our communities and to our world as we all work to manage and mitigate the health, economic and social impacts of COVID-19. India, following Prime Minister Modi’s announcement of a 21-day lockdown, has been racing to implement social distancing to halt the spread of the pandemic while still allowing continuity of essential businesses. While the United States has not announced a nation-wide lockdown, most states and local communities have largely implemented strict measures. The news coming out of New York, Paris, London as well as grim statistics from Italy underscore what is at stake. Yet the economic disruption that has resulted will have long-lasting impacts on the global economy. The U.S-India Business Council, working with the broader U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is committed to supporting our member companies and the larger business community to help safeguard lives and livelihoods.
