Former Secretary DPIIT, Government of India
Ramesh Abhishek previously served as Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the key department spearheading key government initiatives such as Make in India, Start-up India, Ease of Doing Business and Industrial Corridors in the country.
He previously served as Chairman of the Commodity Derivative Markets Regulator, Forward Markets Commission. In this role, he brought about far-reaching reforms in the regulation of the market. Mr. Abhishek also served in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Law and Justice. Has also worked with the Supreme Court of India as a key member of the E-Committee, which is entrusted with the task of introducing e-Governance to the judiciary, and served at the United Nations as Civil Affairs Officer in Kosovo. He was also Secretary, Performance Management in the Cabinet Secretariat.
Before joining the Government of India, he worked in Bihar for over 15 years in the posts of Divisional Commissioner, Patna and District Magistrate, Patna and East Champaran.
Mr. Abhishek holds a degree in Business Administration in Finance and both a Master’s in International Relations and Master’s in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.
