USIBC Hosts Panel: Anti-Corruption Trends Impacting Business In India & The Correct Compliance Response

USIBC invites its members to learn about the state of anti-corruption laws as it relates to companies doing business in Indian markets. This interactive panel with experts from law firms, in-house, and the government will provide practical information and advice. The program is designed for business and compliance people as well as attorneys interested in keeping up to date on corruption and compliance trends impacting business in India. The panel will address the special challenges posed by corruption in the Indian market and its particular climate. The panel will describe anti-corruption enforcement efforts directed at companies doing business in India including recent headline making investigations, settlements, and declinations. The discussion will focus on the lessons that can be learned from these matters and the potential future course of enforcement efforts by United States, United Kingdom, and Indian regulators. Next, the panel will discuss the recently released Resource Guide on the FCPA and updates to the UK Bribery Act Guidance. Particular attention will be paid to information in the FCPA Guidance about decisions to decline to prosecute, and how those decisions can inform an anti-corruption compliance program. The panel will discuss the particular lessons that the FCPA Guidance can bestow on businesses operating in India.
