USIBC co-sponsors ICT Program

Date Event: January 11, 2010 - January 15, 2010

New Delhi
On January 11-12, USIBC will help organize a two-day program with the Government of India on the IT Act Amendments of 2008, with a particular focus on Section 84(a). Dr. Gulshan Rai and colleagues from the Intelligence Bureau, Home Ministry, and Foreign Intelligence Bureau will meet with USIBC members and a group of encryption experts from the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan to discuss encryption and lawful intercept regimes and identify best practices for developing a framework for cooperation between the private sector and intelligence and law enforcement agencies. The goal is to help shape a balanced national encryption policy that follows international best practices.

Following these consultations, USIBC will organize three days of meetings with Government of India ministries to discuss a range of issues related to the ICT and media and entertainment sectors. Given that there was no ICT Dialogue meeting in India in 2009, these meetings will present a valuable opportunity to meet with key Government of India decision makers.
