The U.S.-India Business Council and Federal Trade Commission invite you to participate in the third roundtable on Stepping Up To Stop Indian Call Center Fraud, where we will identify additional ways to protect consumers and the reputation of India’s call center industry from impersonation frauds that originate in India.

Last year’s meeting led to significant developments: the creation of more effective blocking technologies; more arrests and criminal charges in both the U.S. and India of the perpetrators of these scams; and enhanced targeting of consumer education. The calls, pop-ups and threats, however, continue, so clearly our work is not yet done.

The May 17 meeting will be a full day program for all attendees. With a keynote address by a leading researcher on technical support scams to set the stage, we will explore responses and views from law enforcement, government officials, technology companies, and consumer advocates. A panel on public/private partnerships will explore valuable opportunities for coordination, and industry members will offer a perspective from India.
