The U.S.-India Business Council, Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, U.S. Department of Commerce, EY, and Invest India are pleased to host a U.S.-India Ease of Doing Business Private Sector Outreach Series webinar on:

The Goods and Services Tax: Structure, Implementation, and Compliance

On July 1, the Government of India will complete an overhaul of its indirect tax regime by implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The GST is a major reform that creates a common market across India's 29 States and 7 Union Territories and establishes a system with most goods and services categorized under taxation rates of 0, 5, 12, 18, and 28 percent - with some additional surcharges for specific items. This webinar is being held just two weeks into the GST implementation period and will provide an opportunity to hear directly from the Government of India about both the structure of the new system and the current status of reforms. It also will offer a chance to hear insights and analysis from a leading industry practitioner on how the private sector can best adapt to and use this new tax system.

The final 30 minutes of the webinar will be dedicated to addressing questions from participants.

To submit speaker questions in advance of the webinar, contact Commerce Department International Trade Specialist Noor Sclafani at Noor.Sclafani@trade.gov before Friday, July 7th.
