Legal Services

The USIBC Legal and Professional Services Committee will continue to foster relationships between U.S. and Indian law firms, promote collaboration and understanding of the laws and legal frameworks in which our two legal regimes operate, debate, and discuss timely and relevant matters of law, and advocate for the full market access of American law firms in India.

Legal and professional services form a conduit supporting the growing U.S.-India commercial relationship. Unfettered access to the best legal, accounting, and economic minds these two great nations possess is the engine that will enable large, increasingly complex, multinational transactions to go smoothly, while buttressing investor confidence. Opening this channel for two way investment is a high priority for USIBC.

Accordingly, USIBC applauds recent judicial decisions supporting the ability of U.S. lawyers to advise their clients on a fly-in and fly-out basis, participate in Indian arbitrations, and permit Legal Process Outsourcing. The Legal & Professional Services Executive Committee will continue to advocate for the opening of the legal services market in India. To achieve this, USIBC will promote genuine collaboration between U.S. and Indian firms and advocate for domestic legal reforms in India.
