Infrastructure

The U.S. – India Business Council’s Executive Committee on Infrastructure aims to address the massive resource and capacity challenges facing the Indian economy by advocating for greater engagement by U.S. industry in the Indian market place and for a deeper partnership between the business communities in the United States and India.

 Core Objectives:

  • Facilitate the deployment of American technology, expertise and capital to assist India in developing much-needed, large scale infrastructure projects especially in roads, ports, rail and airports
  • Support the creation of an environment that supports project financing of greenfield projects across all infrastructure and manufacturing sectors

  • Enlist SMEs into the value chain of U.S. – India commercial relations

  • Assist U.S. industry in setting up sustainable infrastructure projects and manufacturing facilities in India that will create long term employment for the growing India middle class as well as provide cost competitive, high-end solutions for India’s expanding resource needs

Strategies for Success:

  • Ensure robust engagement with relevant government officials and stakeholders in both the United States and India (at the central and state level) through meetings, issue memos, briefing papers and conference calls

  • Lead U.S. Industry’s participation in vital bilateral forums such as the High Technology Cooperation Group, U.S. – India Trade Policy Forum and the U.S. – India Strategic Dialogue

  • Complement a growing government to government dialogue through a deeper partnership with Indian industry and the Indian business community

  • Identify critical regulations and legislation that would promote American investment in India’s infrastructure sector as well as create a stable investment and business climate for U.S. industry.

  • Provide a strong platform for USIBC member companies to highlight and showcase their products and business offerings to the Government of India as well as Indian industry
